Competing Kingdoms: “God Measures by the Stature of our Character”
While God certainly used Saul for his purposes to save his people, he ultimately proved a failure. So even though he is still the king, he isn’t God’s king. God sends Samuel to anoint a new king over Israel but Samuel has become like the others, looking for the markers of size rather than character.
