Defeat is swallowed up in victory, death is swallowed up in life; the gates of the realm of the dead (hades) will not prevail against God’s assembled people because Jesus has obediently laid down his life and has taken it back up again. This is why we proclaim good news to all. Christ Jesus has been raised and is Lord over all.
